Name of Layout Dalton City

Dalton City Railroad is a freelance HO model railroad layout of modern times in an old city. Old fashion values are still prevalent in this community. This is a simulated city near the Appalachian Mountains where children are safe to walk to the park or maybe to the corner drug store to visit the candy counter. Neighbors are friendly and cops still walk the beat. The large chain stores have chosen to stay downtown vs. moving to a suburban mall. Many beautiful apartments are well maintained above of the downtown businesses. So stop in town for a visit. Watch the firemen put out a townhouse fire. Perhaps you'll stop in at Nikki's Espresso Pub for a cappuccino on the outdoor patio or make a reservation at Rosemary's for a quiet authentic German dinner. Hope you enjoy viewing the photos.
I started model railroading shorty after I received a HO train set for Christmas when I was 12 y/o. My brother built the layout board for me and I was off for a great adventure of model railroading. For the next 5-6 years I shoveled snow, mowed lawns & entered the work force to model my layout. It became an addiction.

Now 30 some years later I began another layout. My wonderful wife had no clue when I began! My youngest son loves to run the trains. This is only a 4x8 layout at this time. I just completed building the “Train Room”. I will be adding 4x12 in a 'T' fashion. Can't wait! I really try to put as much detail as my skills allow and develop.

Running the “power, cable & telephone lines” proved delicate and time consuming as every bldg. has a lines running to them. It was worth the effort. A few of the buildings are from my layout when I was young. For ex: “Nikki's Espresso Cafe” and the Garden Center. There is approx. 35 buildings, 98 vehicles, 120 'people'. I run 2 trains. They are CSX freight and an Amtrak passenger train. I built the simulated town house fire smoke generator and wired it with yellow and flashing red LEDs. I use 'Balsa Fir' incense to create smoke. Many items are scratch built.
