Name of Layout Forest Hills

A town set in the 1950's - nestled in the hills. The entire layout has a little bit of everything: a bustling, growing town, passenger train station and platform, bridges, tunnels, church on a hill, waterfall, working crossing gates with sound, bustling train yard, roundhouse, coaling station complete with workers everywhere and let's not forget the sanding station as well as a factory in the valley -- all surrounded by extensive trees and greenery.
First I measured how much space I had available to use. Next I designed the track layout with R&R track software. When I was happy with the result on the screen, I proceeded to build the table top using 2x4s as main supports and 4x8 half inch plywood sheets. The L shaped layout is 12 feet long on one side and 9 feet long on the other. The 12 foot side is 6 feet wide and the 9 foot side is 4 feet wide. Once table was done, I set up the pre-ordered track with all digital decoders installed. I ran trains on tracks to be sure all ran smoothly. Next was the construction of the hills using wired paper. I formed rocks using molds and plaster and placed them on the hills. I painted the rocks and all the grounds and added ground foam - different kinds for different areas. For the train yard, I used black ballast. I then installed all the trees. Then I began to work on all the structures: the roundhouse, the sanding station, the town buildings. About 80% of the structures are kits which I meticulously painted and weathered myself. The rest of the structures I bought ready made but I still added painting and weathering. I also added lights to all structures. I installed all structures into layout and added lamposts in the town as well as added tower lights in the train yard areas. The town area I made a cut-out so that I can pop it out of the layout when needed. The factory in the valley is another pop out cut-out. This allows me to reach all parts of the layout. I added many details using people figures, cars, trucks, drums, crates, ladders, everything from phone booths to fire hydrants to benches to shoe shine stands, signs on buildings, train rails, even a welder. All electrical work was done by me. The icing on the cake was the realistic background, which I purchased from BackDrop Warehouse. The BackDrop of hills, blue sky and puffy white clouds that go perfectly with my layout of Forest Hills. The backdrop may look washed out but this is due to lighting used for photography. Visually it is much darker. (note from BDWH)
